Mission Taco Joint | Soulard, St. Louis, MO

Who doesn't love a good Margarita and some tacos? And these margs and tacos are GREAT! I know what you are thinking, the plate below doesn't look like tacos. They are the insides of tacos, but they are amazing. They do have corn tortillas at Mission Taco but they are warmed up on the same surface as their flour tortillas and therefore not safe with those who are highly sensitive. However, they are still amazing and you arguable get more when you order them "naked".Pictured above are naked chorizo and naked carne asada tacos. The chorizo comes with house made chorizo sausage, fresh avocado, wood-fire grilled pineapple pico de gallo, pickled jalapeno, cilantro-lime cream and the carne asada comes with wood-fire grilled flanked steak, baby arugula, queso fresco, avocado serrano sauce. Both have some kick to them so if you don't like some heat to your food, I would go with a different choice. Ask your servers which tacos are gluten free as their menu changes and updates regularly. Also, unfortunately the queso dip is spiked …

Valentine’s Day | The Tavern | Central West End, St. Louis, MO

Oops, I did it again. I ate my food before I could get a picture and now you are left with some roses and Sam. This is starting to become a common theme, I apologize. We were hungry!!! Sam and I decided to try out a new restaurant for Valentine’s Day. The Tavern has been on our list for a while now but it is over our normal price-point so we were saving it for something special. This place was great, super knowledgeable about their gluten free menu, but a warning the entrees did start around $30. Save up for something special and get your booties to the Tavern ASAP. I ordered the Lemon Thyme prepared Scallops. Now before you all freak out, I know I have recently mentioned that I don’t like thyme… This was an exception because I really liked the other pairing with this dish. They have a great selection of seafood and four different ways each one can be prepared. They have suggestions with what goes best with each fish and …

Spinach Artichoke Dip

Check out the original recipe posted by Emily at joyfulabode.com. I’m sorry for the low quality finished product picture, I had a houseful of hungry relatives and had to snap a quick picture before it was all gone. I’m sure you have all been there before. Note the half-eaten chip and the hot pad from the 70s. There are only really 3 steps to making this dish besides putting the mix in the oven. It’s a perfect dip to make when you are short on time or need to bring something quick to a party (superbowl, anyone??). All you have to do is soften the cream cheese in the microwave then mix in the rest of the ingredients, place in the oven for 30-45 minutes, then add some more cheese on top and broil until melted. You really can’t get much easier than that!!

KIND of a big deal | KIND bars

KIND bars are my go-to breakfast, snack, on-the-go grab. There are so many kinds (lol) and flavors to choose from I can bet that you’ll find at least one you like. In the picture above there are several different varieties from the breakfast to the plus.  My favorite are the healthy grains. Great size and not too chewy but also not too crunchy. These are just three of the many flavors I love of that variety.  The breakfast bars ar smaller but there are two in each pack. I’ve tried a few of these and the blueberry ones are definitely my favorite and I actually don’t even like blueberries.  I have mixed feelings about the PLUS bars. They have a great amount of protein and chocolate but they are almost too hard for me to enjoy eating. This one tasted mostly like nuts with a hint of chocolate and absolutely no peanut butter.  I’d love to try out some new KIND bar flavors. Leave me a comment with your favorite flavors!!

PW Pizza | St. Louis, MO

The next stop on the quest to find the best GF Pizza in the St. Louis area is PW Pizza on Chouteau. This also gives me an opportunity to promote one of my favorite gluten free blogs because I found this gem on Kate’s blog Gluten Free Pearls. Kate has an awesome directory of restaurants in the MO, St. Louis, and Chicago areas. I love to reference it when going somewhere new. If you live in these areas or are ever visiting, I strongly recommend taking a look! Okay, now back to pizza. I ordered the Buffalo pizza off of Wendy’s Fav’s. This included roasted garlic, olive oil, spicy chicken, red onion, monterey jack, mozzarella & ranch dressing. I am such a sucker for anything buffalo so this was the obvious choice for me.  The crust was pretty damn tasty, however, it was on the crunchy side. If you are into softer crusts this may not be the place for you. My only issue was that the toppings did not extend all the way to the outer …

I’ve hit the Canyon Bakehouse Motherload

Hey everyone! I recently won an Instagram contest sponsored by Canyon Bakehouse and Erica aka @CeliacAndTheBeast!! I can’t wait to try out all of these awesome products! They don’t sell 90% of what’s in this box in my area so I’m beyond excited! You should have seen the happy dance I did post Fedex delivery!! Keep on the lookout for reviews of all of these Canyon Bakehouse products! Brownie Bites: ★★★★★.  If you know me at all you shouldn’t be at all surprised that the brownies were the first product I tried. They instantly took me back to my childhood of eating Little Debbie’s brownie bites. If you have a sweet tooth or a child looking for something yummy for their lunch boxes, these are it!!! Rosemary & Thyme Focaccia Bread: ★★★★. The texture of this bread was amazing. It felt and tasted like gluten-bread. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I hate Rosemary and am not a huge fan of thyme, either. I have never liked …
