Washington University in St. Louis

Hey everyone, just wanted to give you all a little update on my life. I haven’t been as active as I would like to be because grad school is kicking my butt. I am so sorry about that and I hope to post some drafts I have in the works over my Thanksgiving and Winter breaks.  AND MY THANKSGIVING BREAK STARTED TODAY, BOO YAH!

On a more gluten free note, I recommend any High School aged student or undergraduate looking for their next step to consider Washington University in St. Louis. They are outstanding when it comes to catering to my gluten free needs. I could not have picked a better school to continue my education. My building in the Brown School of Social Work has a cute little cafe called “Grounds for Change” and most items get labeled with stickers “gluten free” “vegetarian” “dairy free” etc. And for days that I feel like there aren’t any options for me, I can go to the Danforth University Center and ask for a chef and they will make me something in their dedicated allergy free kitchen. How awesome is that!?

I forgot my lunch the other day and got this delicious turkey sandwich and white cheddar popcorn (my fave). I have also gotten fruit and yogurt packs, soup, chili, and more! I’m so happy to be at WashU for reasons far beyond their gluten free options but it definitely adds to my love for the school.

Anyone else have an awesomely gluten free friendly university? Tell me about it!

  1. WashU is beautiful and I am happy to hear of their gluten free offerings. I almost went to WashU for undergrad (before I was diagnosed for Celiac), but ultimately chose Cornell. Cornell University is very gluten free friendly too! Every dining hall has gluten free and the staff is very knowledgable. I had no problems there. I am planning to write a post about Cornell once I finish my Philly & NY Thanksgiving series if you want to check it out! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. So happy to hear that. I went to the University of Illinois but was diagnosed after I moved out of the dorms so I have no idea how they are when it comes to catering to allergies. I’m glad you had such a positive experience at Cornell!! I look forward to your post!
